Ninety miles of trails traverse and climb Rinke Ridge and North Mountain giving users over 10,000 acres of forest land to explore. The Darrington Trail System Master Plan creates a wide diversity of trails and experiences for 4x4 vehicle, trail bikes, ATV's and also for mountain bikes. Sensitive trail siting takes advantage of views and natural site amenities, while avoiding stream banks, steep slopes, wetlands, residential lands, and important wildlife habitat areas.

A fifteen acre base camp/trail head complex provides camping areas for tents and RV's, a picnic area with a meeting shelter, and a multi-use play area for 4x4 and trailbike competitions, all nestled into a mature conifer

J.A. Brennan Associates investigated several alternative sites in the Phinney Block. These were presented to the public before choosing the preferred alternative for sytems analysis and further development. Agency involvement and efficient permit coordination were integral to the development of the master plan and report documentation. To expedite project implementation, a detailed phasing plan and cost estimate were completed. The Master Plan was produced with IAC funding and will be used to obtain further funding for the project.
