J.A. Brennan developed a conceptual design and subsequent construction documents for the first and second phases of this neighborhood park along Ambaum Blvd in the City of Burien. The park's active programming appeals to families and accommodates small and large groups. The recreation space includes a children¡¯s play area and basketball court, along with a plaza space for community gathering. Park design goals included attracting local residents, offering activities to young children, older children and adults, employing CPTED (crime prevention through environmental design), minimizing impacts to neighbors, creating an easily-maintainable park, and managing stormwater detention. |

J.A. Brennan designed the park to include a variety of concrete materials such as a pervious concrete plaza made of Perco-Crete, a sand mix bonded by Perco-crete¡¯s unique cement product. This pervious pavement, which has a fine texture similar to a traditional concrete, is able to absorb water and slowly infiltrate it into a recharge bed. |
