J.A. Brennan worked with the City of Kent Parks, Recreation & Community Services to develop a schematic plan for the development of Riverview Park. In keeping with the City's funding parameters, J.A. Brennan is designing a park that is primarily oriented towards passive recreational use such as walking and water-viewing. The main design goal is to enable users of all abilities to see, touch and use the river. The main park feature that accomplishes this is the Riverview Bowl, a 1.5-acre half-circle shaped lawn that slopes down towards the water and is flanked on both sides by arcing, universally accessible paths, which lead to a gathering space at the high-water mark. From there, visitors can walk onto the beach, launch a hand-carried boat, or take a short journey to the fishing platform |
