Cheasty Boulevard meanders through an urban greenbelt and greenspace creating a link between the Beacon Hill and Rainier Valley communities in Seattle. Originally planned by the Olmsted Brothers as an attractive travel corridor to provide a connection between city parks, Cheasty Boulevard has served as a functional connection between communities and a passive and active source of pleasure. While serving as a commuter shortcut, the boulevard has suffered from misuse and has not been developed to its potential. Encroachments by neighbors, illegal dumping, slope stability, safety concerns, heavy truck usage, high speed traffic, parking, and the spread of invasive plants are all issues that impact the boulevard. J.A. Brennan Associates is providing conceptual design services for enhancement and restoration of this corridor, in addition to public involvement assistance. |
