T he City of Tukwila is re-grading S. 180th street to pass beneath the BNSF rail line, impacting an adjacent wetland. J.A. Brennan Associates is designing a 2-acre wetland that will restore and enhance the impacted wetland. The concept for the wetland design draws on the historical landscape of the Springbrook Creek and Green River flood plain. Elements of an ox-bow shaped river have been incorporated to strengthen the connection to the natural setting. The restored wetland, incorporates raised hummocks to enable conifer planting within the wetland. Native planting will create and enhance habitat opportunities for wildlife. Project tasks include grading design, planting plan, and irrigation design.
