Tacoma Nature Center’s Discovery Pond

The design of the Nature Exploration Area at the Tacoma Nature Center goes beyond the traditional playground. At the Discovery Pond children discover natural concepts and materials through a combination of exploration, tactile learning, physical play, cause-and-effect examination, and educational signage. The pond creates a playful setting where children can play in shallow water, crawl through hollowed-out logs, scramble up small hills, control the flow of water, play in sand, and in tree houses.
