Indian Island Cultural and Environmental Restoration Project

J.A. Brennan prepared a conceptual design for Indian Island, a 60-acre archaeological site where over 100 Wiyot people were massacred in 1856. The project’s purpose is to provide tribal members a quiet, clean place to listen to the wind and waves, watch birds, to sing and tell stories, to swim, and to heal. Additional design concepts include traditional Wiyot ceremonial facilities, with educational facilities for the greater Wiyot and non-Wiyot communities.
