Suzhou Tourism Report
Preserving cultural landscapes for posterity is an important focus in landscape architecture. Jim Brennan had the opportunity to travel to Suzhou, China as a consultant to the tourism board. There he toured Chinese Gardens and open spaces in preparation for writing a report that assisted the tourism board in understanding future tourism opportunities. Preserving and protecting the existing world-class garden system has become a priority for the city of Suzhou. The city carefully stewards its cultural landscapes for future generations of residents and visitors to explore and enjoy. Report recommendations included carving out pedestrian-only zones around historical districts before the number of automobiles skyrockets as expected.
