Greater Salmon Bay Conceptual Design

Groundswell NW initiated this project to identify and enhance sites along the shoreline of Salmon Bay. Groundswell’s primary goals included reviewing Salmon Bay’s potential project sites, holding public meetings to gauge the community’s interest in these projects, and formulating conceptual plans for these sites that addressed access, habitat, and existing maritime activity throughout Salmon Bay. J.A. Brennan developed conceptual designs for five publicly identified sites: Ray’s Boathouse, 28th Street End, 20th Street End, Ballard Bridge/14th Street End, and Commodore Park. The conceptual designs proposed changes including increasing pedestrian and access to the shoreline, restoring remnant habitat areas and interpreting them to visitors, and augmenting the rich maritime history found across Salmon Bay.
